FAQs - Track Attack Gives Back
What is Track Attack?
Track Attack has been a long standing fun tradition at SFES to raise money for the PTO by students collecting monetary pledges per lap they run during the "Track Attack" event. At the event, every grade gets to run laps together - and students often compete with each other for the most laps run!
WHAT IS the "gives back" part of "Track attack gives back"?
Previous Track Attacks were direct fund raisers for the PTO. Since the community and school parents have been so generous with the Make It Happen Fundraiser, like last year, we are not asking for donations to the school. Instead, we are asking for monetary and item donations to be given to the Hopewell Food Pantry. The Food Pantry serves at-need families right here in Sherrills Ford. This is SFES's way of saying "Thank You" while also teaching students to be generous stewards of their community..
In its inaugural year, our school collected and donated over 4,000 food items and $2,000 to the Hopewell Food Pantry that helped 275+ families in our community! This year, it has evolved to be more than just a single event - we are making it an entire WEEK OF GIVING with fun ways to remember each day what giving is all about! The Week of Giving ends with our Track Attack event where our students will “Go for the Gold” and run laps to earn gold stripes. This is always a fun and competitive event!
We are also holding a Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday from 1:00pm to 5:30pm during the Week of Giving. Anyone 18 years of age or older is welcome to donate blood. Did you know your 1 pint can save 3 lives?

Do we have to participate?
Participation in any of our events is always optional. If you child wants to dress up but not donate, that is okay. If your child wants to donate without dressing up, that is okay, too! We designed this to be a fun event to help our students understand the importance of giving while helping local charities in need.
How do i send in our donations?
If you are sending in food items (see needs list below), please bring them to us in the AM/PM car rider line any time (or every day!) during the week of March 12 - March 16.
If you want wish to give a monetary donation, please make your checks payable to "SFES PTO" and send in your child's agenda. Please write in the notes section, "Hopewell".
100% of your donation goes to the Food Pantry. The PTO is NOT taking a cut! At the end of this event, we will write a single check to the Hopewell Food Pantry from the PTO.

Can I watch or participate in track attack?
Absolutely! Each grade runs/walks at a specific time. You teacher will send that time frame home in our student's agenda. You will be able to run/walk with your child or just cheer them on from the sidelines.
Our DJ always makes this a super fun, pumped-up event for our students!

WHAT SHOULD WE DONATE TO THE FOOD PANTRY?
Please see the graphic below! While all items will be appreciated, there is an urgent need for peanut butter and jelly, pasta and sauce, canned meats, cereal, and feminine products. Thank you!
